Pluggin' My Favorite Show of All Time

You may or may not know already, I am a HUGE fan of Gargoyles, and for this reason, I've been a little absent from most boards/sites lately, what with school, 24, Harry Potter, and of course: NEW CANON STORIES for Gargoyles!!

In case you didn't know, Gargoyles was this amazing show that premeired on Disney back in 1994. By 1996, however, it was pretty much canceled. Nonetheless, the fans saw to it to keep the fandom alive, especially through their annual convention, the Gathering of the Gargoyles. They even manage to keep Creator Greg Weisman involved in the fandom, enough for Disney to hire him as leadwriter for the all-new Gargoyles comic created and published by Creature Comics and SLG Comics!

We even have most of the episodes from the original show out on DVD: The Complete First Season (13 epsiodes) as well as the first 26 episodes of Season Two.

So basically, I just want those who read this blog (doubt there's many) to know about my favorite show of all time (I saw this show back when I was six, it hasn't left me since).

Rent/Buy the DVDs, and definitely check out the comics (3 issues out now, #4's coming out in May . . . each of them for $3.50). Whether you are an old fan or not, you should definitely check this series out.

Who has liked the last few episodes of 24?

Me? I've loved them! For Jack it was Another Day, Another Embassy and another cold war if he doesn't get it right (or even if he did). If Suverof (i think thats how its spelt) hadn't given Daniels the backing to attack the embassy, that would have been even better- LA would become a warzone!

And the Martha Logan thing! Finally Charles get his comeuppance! In the famous words of Pheon in the unofficial 24 blog- "House Arrest My Backside"

And I will stop Nattering now and leave you with an image of the stabbing! Go Martha!

Playstation 3 UK launch

ok.... I know its been out in the US from what seems like forever ago (although it was november 17th i think, that being an original worldwide launch date).

But finally the UK and the rest of Europe will finally have the privillage to own Sony's fantasic state-of-the art Gaming console. Having sampled the delights of it myself I can say it is well worth the £425 price tag ($600 in the US).

Even owners of an XBox 360 say that the PS3 wipes the floor with the Microsoft Console.

And just for the people interested I have pre-ordered 3 games, Tony Hawks Project 8, Formula 1 Championship and Splinter Cell. I will probably get Resistance: Fall of man and Motorstorm at a late date!

Woooah! Its been ages since Pheon, Mandysman or myself have posted here so I'm bombing this place with a few comments to get things going again!

There has only been one post this month from Pheon at the archives and i think he's getting behind on his Poster Of The Month.

And Mandysaman (better known here as Michael Coleman) well....... in his search to meet Mary Lyn Rajskub he hasn't had much contact in over a year (bar the odd post here and the archives) so I hope these threads get both their backsides into gear!

Trying to ignore MandysMan blasphemous ideas (Lauren is NOT a Terrorist :P), I think it'd be cool just to see what the 2008 Race already looks like in January 2007: 1 year before the Primaries EVEN begin and nearly two years before the actual 2008 Presidential Election.

My reason for doing this? One, I think it's wise to know what's going on in the world. Two, if you like 24, then odds are, you got to like politics JUST a bit. Three, I'm running out of ideas on what to do here, and this seems sorta relative to 24 (See Point Two).

Now, the little (*) next to some of these names are basically my guesses on who is actually going to make it to the Primaries and do well in them come early 2008. Now, my reasons are pretty simple, but they basically come down to three things:

One, they have name recognition. (Always a plus IMO)
Two, they are from the South. (Historically, at least in the Presidential Elections starting at 1968, he who wins the South tends to win the Presidency. Also note that the last Presidents Bush (Texas), Clinton (Arkansas), Bush (Texas), Reagan (California), & Carter (Geogria) were all FROM the South.)

So we have about 10 months to the Primaries and 22 Months to the General Election. What will the 2008 Scene look like then??

The Palmer Clan: Another Chart

Yeah, so if you know me, I like facts and I like to organize these facts into some ridiculous charts.

So yeah . . . here's the Palmer Clan.

I've not only included the Palmers, but anyone they may or may have not (as in the case of Sherry Palmer's Staton in Day II) been romantically involved with. I've even included Lyle Gibson who raped Nicole Seven Years before Day I.

Another thing: Some of these people are DEAD now, so I've included their supposed Death years. Note that these Dates are only as accurate if you consider (as I do) that Day I took place in 2002. If you think otherwise, just add or subtract to your own beliefs.

As for David Palmer's birth, I was told he was 55 at the time of his death, so I simply subracted 55 from 2009 (when Day V took place IMO).

Well, as you may know, one of this site's main goals is to deal with the 24-Archive, but though I always intended it to actually BE in direct relationship, it really never was -- Until now.

Arch24 of the 24-Archive (makes sense) has actually put this URL on his Links Page. Hopefully the bond between Archive and Anti-Archive will become even stronger now (or maybe I just want to right something epic at 10:55 AM)!

Banned Books Week: Day IV

I think I'm going to continue doing a series, but this one is only a two-booker:

Roddy Doyle's THE LAST ROUNDUP

If you ever wanted to read a fictional tale of the man who believes he reshaped both Ireland and America yet no one today truly knows or cares, then you should read the tale of Henry S. Smart.

His parents were attracted to each other by their names, Henry Smary and Melody Nash. His father was known to be a bouncer for an adult club and a hit man when required to do so. Oh yes, Henry Sr. also has one leg . . . he gets around using a wooden replacement. In fact, that wooden leg is also used as a weapon in his bouncing and hitting deals. No one thought that these two could ever be in love.

Henry was born in Ireland in 1901, and he was considered a child from the heavens. Absolutely beautiful in every physical way . . . he was reputed to have a thick head of hair and a full set of teeth on his birth!

As he grows up, Henry becomes a powerful player in the Easter Rising and in the Irish Revolution. He eventually even becomes a right hand man for Michael Collins himself.

But as the tale grows, it's clear that Henry isn't as big as he think he is. Clouded by his vain, he has no realization that the people he is currently fighting for will eventually turn on him, in an effort to take out any future potential troublemakers, of which he is the best in the business.

His efforts to escape the grasp of the IRA will take him to Ellis Island in 1924 . . . soon after he becomes a jack of many trades, including a sandwhich card salesman, a dentist, and a bootlegger. But these jobs fly by until he is asked by none other than Louis Armstrong to be his personal Guard and right hand man. Henry takes up the offer, and finds several similarities between he and Louis . . . especially in how both of them - no matter how successful they can be - will always have to answer to somebody, whether they be the white people (because Armstrong is a black man), the IRA (because they want Henry dead), or of each other (Louis is Henry's boss, yet Henry is the white man of the team). In the end, you can only find an amazing tale.

The series I specifically mention this week because while I doubt they have been brought into question for banning, they do indeed have alot of foul language, deaths, and sexuality . . . but for Henry, that's only the beginning. He is a man everyone wishes they could know more of, but there is not chance anyone would ever want to be him. No matter how resilient the man is (and trust me, this guy should have died more than once), he still remains proud, vain, stubborn, ruthless, and above all . . . ignorant. Even when he sees things are not the way they should be, he still can't get out of the world which he has driven himself into.

It really is a fascinating story.

Here's the pics of the first two books. Roddy Doyle has hinted of a third and final installment, but it has never become more than that. If he is indeed writing one, I'd expect it no earlier than 2009.

Banned Books Week: Day III

So anyways, I know I'm a tad late, but hey, I DID remember.

So here was what I was thinking. Everyday, I plan on showing you some of MY favorite books. Some are considered harmless. Some . . . well, aren't.

Anyways, here's my first batch.

It's a cop out I know, to do six books at once but it IS a book series after all.

Yes, I am talking about The Harry Potter series:

Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone (1997)
Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets (1998)
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999)
Harry Potter &amp;amp;amp; the Goblet of Fire (2000)
Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix (2003)
Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince (2005)
The Eventual Book 7 (unnamed and undated)

Any ways, this is the series that makes magic epic in our very own world. Unlike the tales of Narina or even Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter exists in our own world, actually set in a time period of 1991-1998 . . . with certain events happening as far back as a thousand years earlier, as well as the forties, fifties, sixties, seventies, and eighties, with Harry Potter being born July 31, 1980.

While many may claim that HP is a series that takes advantage of concepts and ideas from other well-known literatures, thing is, to create such a world as HP almost "demands" a tribute to certain books here and there.

And then there are the nuts (no offense) who believe that Harry Potter is pure evil. Let me just say this: Read the books for once! Then make a comment. While you may end up still not liking the series, at least it won't be a bias comment that's generally "EVIL!!"

As for the legacy of how this series has played a part in my life, I've been a fan since 2000, just a month or so before the release of Book 4. Good times, indeed.

Since then, I've read the first four twelve times (that was a LONG three years between Books 4 & 5!), the fifth twice, and the sixth once.

When the Seventh book comes out (and I'm slightly hoping for a 07/07/07 release - If it comes out later than that, odds are, it'll be longer!), I'm sure I'll be a fan of it as well. Until then, I'm just learning how to be a patient fan. Being a fan for six years now has been truly gratifying.

Now if only the movies were half as good as the books. Mind you, I thought the first and second rocked. The fourth was okay. Number 3 . . . bad. Just bad, IMO.

So that's it. I've posted some pics of the Four Founders of Hogwarts and how their pasts will surely be crucial in Book 7!! Come back tomorrow to see what next for my Banned Books Week Book Review!

Clopin = The Puck??

Yeah, I was watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame recently, and I must admit, that Clopin, the King of the Gypseys looks and sounds EERILY Similar to the Puck from Disney's Gargoyles. It's probably just some coincidance, but I really like the idea that while banished from Avalon, Puck may have spent a few years in France as Clopin before he decided to become (CAN'T SAY) in New York City by 1994 . . . .

Okay, for anyone who hasn't seen the past few hours, GO AWAY!!!

SPOILERS ARE AMONGST US!!!!

Okay, I doubt that Aaron's in any trouble yet, even after the scene with Martha in the stables. I think that was just his way of saying, "Get off my back, I ain't telling you anything yet . . ."

But still, Aaron is in a tough spot.

He's Head of Secret Service AND in the "Eagle One" Position. He has a DIRECT responisibility of taking care of the President since perhaps Day III. Probably as far back as 24: The Game. And guess what? The President's dirty. DOWN RIGHT Dirty. This is NO Coup d'etat -- Logan is not being influenced by anyone. And yet Logan remains President of the United States -- the role that Aaron must be willing to scarifice his life for. And oh yeah, Logan is the CAUSE behind Palmer's death. Henderson may have been the one who gave the Order, but in the end, Logan was not disspleased. And Aaron knows this as well.

What's a Secret Service Agent to do?

IMO, I'd love to see the final showdown have Logan vs. Aaron & Henderson vs. Jack. Both of them avenging those they care for. Aaron for Palmer, and Jack for Tony. The Tetramvirate will hopefully be avenged then. I don't know where Wayne will come into play, but I'd like him to live till next season, maybe having the chance to have a Presidential Bid (ala Robert F. Kennedy - But hopefully he won't be killed too!) Discuss. Right here in the comments or perhaps in the forums!

PS - Aaron BETTER NOT DIE. I will seriously kill! Palmer was the "Reason for the Season," and Tony (I guess, but he still deserves a S.C.) demonstrates how 24 is a Tragedy, but Aaron is truly the glue of the show, alongside (and more obviously) Jack.

Well, this has NOTHING to do with 24, so if you were expecting something else, BOO!

The following post is to the best city in the world . . . well, in my biased opinion, that is!

The City of Phoenix, of the State of Arizona, is officially 125 years old!!

A colony of the future city formed circa 1868, led by Jack Swilling of Wickenburg, Arizona.
In 1874, President Grant issued a patent to create a 320 city to BECOME Phoenix!

Incorporated into a city on February 25th, 1881, Phoenix was named from Lord Darrel Duppa as symbolism that it would be a city reborned from the ashes of the Hohokam Villages just to the east. (Not to mention that the place was hot!)

Today it is now the fifth largest city in the United States (Population) and has the fifth busiest airport in the nation! The city is also Capital of the State of Arizona and has been since the state entered into the Union in 1912.

The city also has exactly 27 Suburbs surrounding it and one unicorporated town (Gold Canyon). The city is divided into 8 Districts for voting and 15 Urban Villages for development. If things continue to look right, Phoenix plans on annexing one of the them (Anthem) in the next few years!

In 1993, Phoenix was dubbed the best ran city in the world, along with Christown, New Zealand.

Don't forget: The city also has TEN Sister Cities around the World!

Well, that's my rant for perhaps the month. I'll definitely be back in 2031 to celebrate the Sequicentennial!!

But they're not perfect. Alot of the problems I mentioned earlier are solved now. ESPECIALLY THE AVATARS.

But here's what still needs to be done:

Fix the PM's
CREATE a Bloody Member List!! Trust me, we need something to keep the demographics!
Delete ALL non-users! It's not that hard to pick them . . . those with over a year membership (or close to it) and with a total of 0 Posts (zilch, goose egg, nada, you get the gist) are our target!
Sorry pals, but weeds need to be trimmed when they don't contribute . . .

Other than that, thanks Arch for more involvement and fixing up the place in time for Day V!

Disaster in the 24-Archive . . .

Well, this site is supposed to be the opposite of the 24-Archive, but I've done SQUAT about it.

Because fact is, I need an Archive before I can have an Anti-Archive!

Currently, the 24-Archive is in REAL bad shape. I myself am trying to reach Arch24, Webmaster of the site, hoping that he can do some damage control before Day V begins.

Problems Include:

Excessive members, little posts. People apparently like to sign up for no real reason at all.

Private Messages are down. Self-explanatory. And what's annoying is that when it did work, I had to scroll through ALL the useless members just to find MandysMan, 24,CSItvdramalover, Mmarin, Mwilliam, and many others!

Editing Function does not exist anymore. I'm constantly accused as a spammer!

Topics dissapear randomly, and there's nothing we can do about it!

As a Moderator, I CAN'T do Squat! I don't mind if Arch's busy and everything, but leave us prepared! This includes deleting useless members, locking forums, banning spammers, etc, etc! All I can do is post articles, and I have problems with that!

No More AVATARS!! Probably the biggest complaint so far.

The BBC Code is acting funny. Maybe it's just my Cookies, but right now, I have to personally plug the code in to ensure it gets in my post. I can't just click on the smilies anymore!

The Pages no longer jump to most recent, and the 'NEW' turns on and off randomly. I have to scroll down pages to find a new post, where the new posts should be more at the top of the page!

These and countless others. I hope something's done soon. Arch, I hope you see this. I'm trying to find your email as I type.

This is very odd guys. A few days ago, the website, CTUsecure.com, went "offline". I myself figured there was some difficulties going on, nothing that should take longer than a day or two. But now it's been several days, and the page still says there is an error. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know, as I am very curious as to what's going on.

So I got to thinking . . . and nothing's official mind you, but I was trying to figure out where each of the four branches of the 24-Archive actually do.

So far this is what we have:

Main Site: The Forum & a few Articles
The RPG: The RPG (Duh)
The MLR Obsession: An Kiwi's quest for the best, as well as Current News
The Anti-Archive: Not a clue

After thinking about it, this is what it could be:

Main Site: The Forum & the Archive of 24 Data, submitted by fans themselves
The RPG: Still the RPG!
The MLR Obsession: Still a Kiwi's quest for the best, and still a place for Current News, but for the Cast & Crew, including contact information
The Anti-Archive: A place for Current News but this time relating to the plot, Inbetweenquels, etc . . .

So . . . what do you think, guys? Can this be done, or am I just crazy?

Mind you, both are very likely scenarios . . .

Now I know what to do with it!

Well, if ou haven't seen the revised title of this blog, then you are obviously clueless!

I have dubed this blog the Anti-Archive, a mythical site that is a legend to those devoted members of the 24-Archive!

But here's the twist: It has long been thought that the Anti-Archive was just that: Against the 24-Archive and all of it's associations. I have realized it is just the opposite: It shall keep everything running!!

Now . . . where to begin?
